We spend the day exploring Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first ancient kingdom. You will visit massive brick pagodas, the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree, and the nearby Mihintale rock, learning about the island's early Buddhist history.
We drive to Polonnaruwa to walk through the ruins of palaces and the famous Gal Vihara rock carvings. In the afternoon, you will switch to a 4x4 jeep for a wildlife safari in Minneriya National Park, known for its large elephant herds.
Start the morning by climbing the UNESCO-listed Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Afterward, we drive to the cultural capital of Kandy, stopping at the Dambulla Cave Temple and a local spice garden. The evening finishes with a traditional Kandy cultural dance performance.
Visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic in the morning. The rest of the day includes exploring a gem museum, taking a walk through the massive Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya, and relaxing at your Kandy hotel.
